In this article we will cover the following topics:
Changing the DNS records to point your domain to Bookmark
In order to connect a domain that you already own to your Bookmark website you just need to make a few changes to your Domain Host.
You’ll need to do change 2 DNS records:
Update the A record by changing the IP address in the “Points to” column to Bookmark’s IP address, which is: 22.214.171.124.
Update the CNAME record to point WWW to NS.BOOKMARK.COM
If you are a tech-savvy individual, and that makes sense to you, go ahead and make the change on your domain registrar’s website.
If you’re like the rest of us, and that seems confusing to you, don’t worry. You have two options as shown in this help article.
Connecting your pointed domain to your Bookmark website
Once you have successfully updated your DNS records you will need to log back into your Bookmark account and go to the My Websites page. From there you will enter the website builder of the site that you want to connect the domain to.
Once you are in the website builder go into the Site area of the sidebar, and then the Domains area. If you have not attempted to connect your domain yet you can click the 'Change' button on the domain page to go through the connection process.
Here you will enter your custom domain name in field titled 'Connect a Domain You Already Own'. The field will turn red if there is an error, and will prompt you to either go back and confirm that you have successfully updated your DNS records, or to reach out to our support team for assistance.
The field will turn green if the domain is able to successfully connect. You can then click the Continue button to lock in the changes.
If you have already attempted to connect your custom domain previously you will see your domain name listed under the section “Connected Domains you already own”.
If your domain is pointed to Bookmark, you will see a green check mark and a button called Use this Domain
Click the Use this Domain button, then click Yes to confirm
Finally, you must publish your website for the domain change to be completed. You don’t have to publish right away, though.
Tip: If you are having trouble getting your domain connected to your website please reach out to our support team over the live chat so we can provide you with further assistance.
